about

This song follows the less-than-perfect scoundrel Max as he finds himself in another hapless adventure. This time, Max learns about the legend of a Sergal King, who hid some gold out in the desert. Some say the gold was made by the Gods and grants the owner eternal life, others say the gold is cursed. Either way, Max doesn't care, he needs the money to pay off a debt he incurred from a gambling fiasco (he was cheating...i swear...i saw it!). So, Max heads off to get the gold, which, to his surprise, he finds fairly easily, but in doing so he awakens the spirit of the Sergal King who chases Max on a hunt for his everlasting soul. Through a series of lucky blunders, Max manages to escape the King, but in his escape Max lost all the gold, except one piece. "No problem," Max says, "one piece of this gold has to be worth a fortune!" However, back in town, no one believes the gold to be real, because anyone who went out looking for it never returned, that and Max has a reputation of being a liar. So, for safe-keeping, Max decides to melt the piece of gold down and make a tooth out of it to replace the one he has missing (Max is missing his upper right canine, but that's a different story.) Who knows, maybe the golden tooth will grant him a sort of immortality?

This experience is also the reason Max is afraid of Sergals, though he would never actually admit it.

lyrics

lyrics:

When the Sergal King rides at night
i hear the wind howl with fear.
He demand a thief pay his price.
I stole from him, now he want to take me
to hell.

I heard the tale across the land, the Sergal king who horded.
He hid the gold made from the gods that granted everlasting life
the danger's real they said don't go but i had a debt from playing cards
that easy gold it was a steal until the king awoken

how can the desert be so cold
the sun hasn't shone for three days
the sergal king is on my tail
dont let me die in this land
he'll eat my soul forever more

The sergal king's awoken
the gold's eternal prisoner

chorus

*The Sergal King*
"Why would you want to steal from me you cur
nothing's worse than this gold's curse
i spend my days in this endless hollow land
waiting for fools to give chase"

how can the desert be so cold
the sergal king's awoken

i fled the king escaped his land
one piece of gold in my paw
no one believed that it was real
so i made a tooth that shines forevermore

chorus
